Closing out the 2023-24 NFL Super Wild Card weekend is a Monday Night Football matchup between the NFC South-winning Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the quickly fading Philadelphia Eagles.

The game will air on ESPN and kick-off at 8:15 p.m.

As always, these odds are brought to you by our exclusive wagering partners at FanDuel Sportsbook:

Odds – Eagles vs. Buccaneers

Spread: Eagles -2.5

Moneyline: Eagles -156/Buccaneers +132

Total: O/U 42

Storylines

Here’s a look at some big-picture storylines to watch ahead of Monday night’s contest at Tampa’s Raymond James Stadium:

— The Eagles enter the postseason 11-6 and while their record says they’re a good football team, they really struggled down the stretch of this season. After a 10-1 start to 2023, Philly has lost five of their last six games and now faces an uphill battle to return to the Super Bowl.

— They’ll start said battle without their top wide receiver in A.J. Brown who, after spraining his knee last Sunday versus the Giants, is out for Monday night’s game in Tampa.

— Some have connected Bill Belichick to a potential Eagles opening if they move on from Nick Sirianni. Whether they would actually move on from the head coach remains to be seen, but it would be quite the ready-made roster for Belichick as he looks to break Don Shula’s all-time wins record. He’s currently 15 wins away.

— Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield, now on his fourth team, has put together quite the sixth NFL season. While bringing Tampa to a 9-8 record and winning the NFC South, the 2018 No. 1 overall pick threw a career-high 4,044 yards and 28 touchdowns and has positioned himself for a big payday this offseason once their playoff run comes to a close.

— Wide receiver Mike Evans has played 10 NFL seasons since being drafted by the Buccaneers in 2013 and has tallied 1,000 receiving yards in each. In 2023, he hauled in 79 receptions for 1,255 yards and 13 touchdowns from Mayfield, helping the relatively seamless transition away from Tom Brady.

Predictions and Picks

I’m going with Tampa in this one. Philly has zero momentum right now and, especially with Brown out, gives you no reason to back them right now.

Mayfield shines at home and wins a close one for the Bucs. The total goes OVER 42.5.

Score: Buccaneers 24 – Eagles 21

Side: Buccaneers +2.5

Total: OVER 42.5

It’s week 16 in the NFL, and we’re back with another weekly column outlining three games to watch across the league this weekend.

As always, these odds, previews, and predictions are powered by our exclusive wagering partners at FanDuel Sportsbook. So head over there to make every moment more.

This time? It’s Christmas Day. Here are three games to watch:

Odds – Raiders @ Chiefs

Spread: Chiefs -10.5

Moneyline: Chiefs -560/Raiders +420

Total: O/U 40.5

Storylines, Predictions, and Pick

The virtually wide receiver-less Chiefs will play host to the always-interesting Las Vegas Raiders this weekend at Arrowhead Stadium.

Kansas City comes into this one off of a 27-17 win at New England last Sunday filled with Kadarius Toney drops and Taylor Swift f-bombs, and will look to scratch and claw for the AFC’s one-seed with three games to go in the season.

Their opponents in the Raiders, while not fighting for playoffs, continue to play spoiler ever since they fired Josh McDaniels. Antonio Pierce has this Vegas team fighting as he himself tries to build a resume and continue on as their full-time head coach in 2024.

Long story short, I like the Chiefs to win this one and the Raiders to cover.

Score: Chiefs 27 – Raiders 20

Side: Raiders +10.5

Total: OVER 40.5

Odds – Giants @ Eagles

Spread: Eagles -13.5

Moneyline: Eagles -850/Giants +590

Total: O/U 43

Storylines, Predictions, and Pick

Tommy Cutlets and the New York Giants are headed to Philly this weekend to take on their division rival Eagles.

The Eagles, after starting the season 10-1, have lost three straight and are now in danger of losing the NFC East title to the Cowboys who are tied with them at 10-4. Jalen Hurts looks like a shell of himself, their defense all of a sudden is a sieve, and Nick Sirianni is back to his weird antics with the media. Three signs of impending doom.

Still, I like them against the Giants this Monday afternoon. While what DeVito has brought them on offense is exciting, the Eagles are just playing for more right now and need a win. I like them to cover 13.5.

Score: Eagles 31 – Giants 13

Side: Eagles -13.5

Total: OVER 43

Odds – Ravens @ 49ers

Spread: 49ers -5.5

Moneyline: 49ers -250/Ravens +205

Total: O/U 47

Storylines, Predictions, and Pick

Christmas night’s matchup between the Ravens and 49ers is one of, if not the, matchup of the week.

Currently sitting as the one-seeds in their respective conferences, Baltimore and San Fran are the cream of the crop in the NFL and while I usually use this part of the column to find the flaws, it’s nearly impossible with these two teams.

That’s why I’m keeping it simple. I’m taking Baltimore with the points for a close game, and the over for some rooting fun.

Score: Ravens 31 – 49ers 30

Side: Ravens +5.5

Total: OVER 47

It’s week 14 in the NFL, and we’re back with another weekly column outlining three games to watch across the league this Sunday.

As always, these odds, previews, and predictions are powered by our exclusive wagering partners at FanDuel Sportsbook. So head over there to make every moment more.

This week, we’re breaking it up by conference. Here are three NFC games to watch:

Odds – Lions @ Bears

Spread: Lions -3

Moneyline: Lions -176/Bears +148

Total: O/U 43.5

Storylines, Predictions, and Pick

I’ve got my eyes on Lions vs. Bears this weekend for really one reason and one reason only: Justin Fields.

With the Patriots sitting at 3-10 on the season, they’re priming themselves for a top-two selection in the 2024 NFL Draft. The only problem? The Bears will likely be ahead of them, and they may be taking a quarterback.

According to Bears inside Brad Biggs, “it seems like most signs point in one direction: the Bears selecting a QB at or near the top of the draft,” meaning they’ll be the ones with first dibs on Caleb Williams.

This of course, can all change if their current signal caller in Fields plays well down the stretch. The No. 11 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft has thrown 12 touchdowns to 6 interceptions this season, and was also a 1,100-yard rusher in 2022, proving he has the dynamic ability of a modern-day signal caller.

But back to the game. They’ll welcome the 9-3 Lions to Chicago this weekend. A team they lost to just three weeks ago 31-26, and will likely lose again to on Sunday.

I’m taking Jared Goff and Detroit with the points in this one, with the total going UNDER 43.5.

Score: Lions 24 – Bears 13

Side: Lions -3.5

Total: UNDER 43.5

Odds – Seahawks @ 49ers

Spread: 49ers -10.5

Moneyline: 49ers -620/Seahawks +460

Total: O/U 46.5

Storylines, Predictions, and Pick

The Seahawks are flying south on Sunday for a matchup against their division-rival 49ers.

Seattle comes into this one having lost three straight after a 6-3 start, and is now fighting for their playoff lives as they enter the homestretch of the 2023 season. They’ve allowed 31 and 41 in their last two contests, and with streaky offensive play this season will need to get their defense honed in if they want to make a run.

As for the 49ers, they’re now winners of four straight after a strange three-game losing streak in October. Quarterback Brock Purdy is back to his ‘game-manager+’ self, and their defense continues to dominate week in and week out.

Still, while San Fran is hot and the Seahawks are cold, it’s hard to predict a team to lose by double-digits in-division. I like Seattle with the points in this one.

Score: 49ers 24 – Seahawks 17

Side: Seahawks +10.5

Total: UNDER 46.5

Odds – Eagles @ Cowboys

Spread: Cowboys -3.5

Moneyline: Cowboys -196/Eagles+164

Total: O/U 51.5

Storylines, Predictions, and Pick

There’s nothing quite like watching the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football, and luckily that’s what we get this weekend.

They’ll welcome the 11-2 Eagles to Jerry World as both teams look to get in the next punch in the heavyweight battle to the top of the NFC East.

I like the Eagles in a close one with the total going OVER 51.5.

Score: Eagles 28 – Cowboys 27

Side: Eagles +3.5

Total: OVER 51.5

Here are the games to watch:

Odds – Cardinals @ Steelers

Spread: Steelers -6.5

Moneyline: Steelers -275/Cardinals +225

Total: O/U 39.5

Storylines, Predictions, and Pick

A battle between the Patriots’ tanking partners in the Cardinals and their Week 14 opponent in the Steelers is one on my radar this Sunday.

At 2-10, Arizona is just as much in play for a top-three pick in next April’s NFL Draft as the Patriots are, and both have similar needs at wide receiver and quarterback. Making it interesting, however, is the play of Kyler Murray. Through theee games since returning from a torn ACL, the No. 1 overall pick in 2019 has thrown for 719 yards and two touchdowns through the air and has also added three scores on the ground. If he continues to play well, the Cardinals may steer clear from a rookie signal caller in April, which in turn would help the Patriots.

As for their opponents in the Steelers, they’re 7-4 and have won three of their last four thanks for, frankly, the staunch coaching and leadership of Mike Tomlin. All season long they’ve eeked out wins, and I think they continue to do that on Sunday. Pittsburgh wins, Cards cover.

Score: Steelers 24 – Cardinals 20

Side: Cardinals +6.5

Total: OVER 41

Odds – 49ers @ Eagles

Spread: 49ers -3

Moneyline: 49ers -156/Eagles +132

Total: O/U 47.5

Storylines, Predictions, and Pick

Arguably the game of the weekend, the 49ers are heading to Philadelphia this weekend for a 2022-23 NFC Championship rematch against the Eagles.

The NFL MVP favorite at +190 according to FanDuel, Jalen Hurts has been virtually unstoppable for the Eagles offense over his last 29 starts, tallying up  26-3 and scoring 72 total touchdowns. Philly’s defense, of course, speaks for itself and is the main reason why they’re favored to go back to the Super Bowl this season, and actually win it this time.

They’re underdogs this weekend, however, when they welcome the 49ers to The Linc. San Francisco is 8-3 on the year and after a three-game skid in October, has now won their last three against the Jaguars, Buccaneers, and Seahawks. Coming off of (only) his fourth 100-yard rushing game of the season, Christian McCaffrey will look to continue carrying his team to W’s this Sunday.

But it won’t work out. I’m taking the Eagles in a higher-than-expected scoring matchup. I like Philly with the points and the over.

Score: Eagles +3

Side: Eagles 28 – 49ers 24

Total: OVER 47.5

Odds – Chiefs @ Packers

Spread: Chiefs -6

Moneyline: Chiefs -255/Packers +210

Total: O/U 42.5

Storylines, Predictions, and Pick

To Sunday Night Football we go as the 8-3 Kansas City Chiefs are traveling to Green Bay this weekend to take on the 5-6 Packers.

Winners of three of their last four, Green Bay is hitting their stride after a 2-5 start thanks to Jordan Love. Sporting an 8:2 touchdown to interception ratio over the last month, Matt LeFleur seems to finally have some faith in his quarterback after the departure of Aaron Rodgers this offseason.

They now, however, have the Chiefs in their way and I don’t see it going well for them. They’ll play it close, but ultimately Kansas City finds a way in the end. I like the Packers against the spread but the Chiefs to win.

Score: Chiefs 21 – Packers 17

Side: Packers +6

Total: UNDER 42.5

A Super Bowl LVII rematch. The Kelce Bowl. The Swift Bowl. A chance to watch Patrick Mahomes in primetime.

No matter how you describe it, the 8-1 Philadelphia Eagles are headed to Kansas City on Monday night to take on the 7-2 Chiefs.

Wanna bet on it? Here are the odds, according to our exclusive wagering partners at FanDuel Sportsbook:

Odds – Eagles vs. Chiefs

Spread: Chiefs -2.5

Moneyline: Chiefs -148/Eagles +126

Total: O/U 45.5

Storylines

As the great Peter King does in his FMIA column every Monday, and since there’s almost too much to talk about in this one, we’re going to go with Boldface names/Topics for the storylines in this one.

Jason and Travis Kelce, brothers two years apart (Jason, 36. Travis, 34), will face off for the fifth time in their careers. Travis is 4-0 in their previous matchups.

— Will Taylor Swift be in attendance? The pop star, who is now outwardly dating Travis Kelce of the Chiefs, has been attending her new boyfriend’s games of late and is also supposedly an Eagles fan.

— Somehow, the one flying under the radar in this one is Patrick Mahomes. The best player in football, Mahomes is putting together another magical season with 2,442 yards and 17 touchdown passes while also having the third-highest QBR (72.8) in the NFL.

— 8-1 vs. 7-2, this matchup between the Eagles and Chiefs pins not only the top team in each conference against each other this weekend, but also two of the top three on FanDuel’s board to win the Super Bowl this coming February (No. 1 Chiefs +420, No. 3 Eagles +500). The 49ers sit in between them at +470.

— This one is also the Andy Reid Bowl. Reid coached the Eagles from 1999-2012, winning six NFC East titles while appearing in four NFC Championship games and one Super Bowl. After being fired in ’12, he joined the Chiefs the following season and has shined. Kansas City has won seven straight AFC West titles, as well as two of the last four Super bowls behind the lead of both he and Mahomes.

Predictions and Picks

Now, for the actual football game. Both of these teams have staunch, hard-nosed defenses to match up with their electric high-powered offenses that are arguably the reason they’ll each have a real chance at making the Super Bowl yet again.

On Monday, though? I think the offenses shine. Mahomes and Jalen Hurts shine in a back-and-forth heavyweight contest, with the Chiefs once again coming out on top. I like Kansas City laying the points and the over in this one.

Score: Chiefs 31 – Eagles 27

Side: Chiefs -2.5

Total: OVER 45.5

It’s week seven in the NFL and that means we’re back with another weekly column outlining three games to watch across the NFL this Sunday.

As always, these odds, previews, and predictions are powered by our exclusive wagering partners at FanDuel Sportsbook. So head over there to make every moment more.

Here are the game to watch:

Odds – Browns @ Colts

Spread: Browns -3.5

Moneyline: Browns -178/Colts +150

Total: O/U 40.5

Storylines, Predictions, and Pick

The Indianapolis Colts got some tough news this week as rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson underwent season-ending surgery on his shoulder. The fourth overall pick in this past offseason’s NFL Draft, Richardson led the Colts to a 2-2 record through four games while throwing three touchdowns and adding four more on the ground. The problem? He was injured several times due to his aggressive nature – and is now done for the year.

Indy will now turn to Gardner Minshew, a journeyman signal caller who, in my humble opinion, is a top-32 quarterback in the NFL and could help them not miss a beat in their quest for a playoff berth.

They will, however, welcome the Cleveland Browns to Lucas Oil Stadium this weekend who, while having quarterback injury problems of their own, also have one of the more dominant defenses in football. Coming off of a win against arguably the NFL’s best in the 49ers, Sunday against the Colts will test their consistency.

I’m taking Indy in this one. I like what Minshew brings to the table and his moxie is hard to bet against. Colts and the over.

Score: Colts 24 – Browns 20

Side: Colts +3.5

Total: OVER 40.5

Odds – Chargers @ Chiefs

Spread: Chiefs -5.5

Moneyline: Chiefs -230/Chargers +190

Total: O/U 47.5

Storylines, Predictions, and Pick

Coming off of a 20-17 loss on Monday Night Football, there are a lot more questions than answers with the Brandon Staley-led Chargers. Sitting at 2-3 with a top-five quarterback in Justin Herbert and arguably a top 5-10 roster in all of football, it’s safe to assume that Staley’s days in Los Angeles may be numbered.

They’ll travel to Kansas City this weekend to take on their division rival Chiefs. A team that, at 5-1, is once again the team to beat in the NFL thanks not only to the best player in the sport in Patrick Mahomes pacing the league, but his partner in crime Travis Kelce continuing to defy the odds as the best tight end in the league at at age 34.

While everything I just mentioned should result in a big Kansas City win, I think the Chargers will cover the 5.5-point spread here. These AFC West games always get wonky, especially between these two, and the pure talent that Herbert brings to the field makes it nearly impossible to bet against him to lose by more than a field goal.

Score: Chiefs 24 – Chargers 21

Side: Chargers +5.5

Total: UNDER 47.5

Odds – Dolphins @ Eagles

Spread: Eagles -2

Moneyline: Eagles -144/Dolphins +122

Total: O/U 51.5

Storylines, Predictions, and Pick

Hand up: I was wrong about Tua Tagovailoa.

After seemingly missing more games than he’d played through the first several years of his NFL career. I wrote the former Alabama signal caller off. And boy, was I wrong. Tagovailoa is on a tear this season commanding the Miami Dolphins league-leading offense (37.2 PPG) and leading the NFL in passing yards (1,876). He’s the co-favorite to win the NFL’s MVP award at +300.

Their opponent for Week 7? The defending NFC champion Eagles – who are coming off of their first loss of the season last Sunday. While not blowing teams out of the water, Jalen Hurts and this Philly team (aside from last week) have been the epitome of consistency and continue to just win football games.

Except for this week. Miami rolls again as both teams score 30+. Fins +2.5 and the OVER.

Score: Dolphins 34 – Eagles 31

Side: Dolphins +2.5

Total: OVER 51.5

It sure is, and we’re back again on CLNSMedia.com with Three Games to Watch across the NFL on Sunday with storylines, predictions, and picks for each.

This season, we’re powered by FanDuel, America’s Number One Sportsbook. Here’s a look:

Odds – Vikings @ Bears

Spread: Vikings -3

Moneyline: Vikings -154/Bears +130

Total: O/U 43.5

Storylines, Predictions, and Pick

To start the 2023 season, the Bears were the laughingstock of the NFL thanks to an 0-4 start coupled with wide receiver drama and Justin Fields seemingly blaming his coaches for his team’s mistakes. Now, however, after a 40-20 win on Thursday Night Football thanks to three DJ Moore touchdown receptions, it seems like a little bit of confidence has been restored in Chicago.

Their opponents on the opposite sideline this weekend in the Vikings are also 1-4, but are seemingly in a much worse spot. Kirk Cousins’ name continues to be floated on the trade block, star wide receiver Justin Jefferson was placed in injured reserve this week with a strained hamstring and will miss a minimum of four games, and the defense is letting up 24.4 points per game and has only forced three turnovers this season.

In this bottom-of-the-barrell NFC North matchup, I’m taking the momentum. The Bears win outright and the total soars over 43.5

Score: Bears 31 – Vikings 24

Side: Bears +3

Total: OVER 43.5

Odds – Lions @ Buccaneers

Spread: Lions -3

Moneyline: Lions -166/Buccaneers +140

Total: O/U 42.5

Storylines, Predictions, and Pick

Moving off of a matchup of two teams that are underperforming is a contest between one that is (surprisingly) performing up to expectations in the Lions and one that is vastly overperforming in the Buccaneers.

Baker has this Bucs team rolling. After what was essentially a wasted season in 2022 playing with the Panthers and the Rams, the former No. 1 overall pick has revitalized his career in Tampa with Mike Evans and Chris Godwin by his side, and has that team in a solid spot post-Tom Brady, something the Patriots can’t exactly say.

As for the Lions, head coach Dan Campbell made some interesting comments this week regarding their first-round pick Jahmyr Gibbs, calling the running back a “gadget player” and his counterpart David Montgomery their bell cow. An interesting tactic for the 12th overall pick. I guess it’s hard to argue, however, as Campbell has Detroit at 4-1 for the first time since 2011.

The last time I chose against the Lions in my weekly picks column, they failed me. No longer! They win and cover on the road despite a close, defensive dogfight with the Bucs.

Score: Lions 21 – Buccaneers 17

Side: Lions -3

Total: UNDER 42.5

Odds – Eagles @ Jets

Spread: Eagles -7

Moneyline: Eagles -340/Jets +275

Total: O/U 41

Storylines, Predictions, and Pick

Zach Wilson’s good at football? Apparently, at least according to the last two weeks. The 2021 No. 2 overall pick out of BYU not only led the Jets to a win last weekend in Denver, but the week before went toe-to-toe with, and actually outperformed, Patrick Mahomes despite a three-point loss. New York is 2-3 and treading water as they await a savior (potentially even Aaron Rodgers) to come to the rescue.

They’ll play the 5-0 Eagles this week, a team that hasn’t even come close to hitting their stride yet in 2023 despite being undefeated. To me, this one feels like their time to do it.

Philly wins in a blow out and Wilson and co. come back to earth at home in MetLife. This one isn’t close from the start.

Score: Eagles 31 – Jets 7

Side: Eagles -7

Total: UNDER 41

For the second week in a row, we’ve got ourselves a Monday Night Football doubleheader.

First, the Eagles are in Tampa for a matchup against the Buccaneers for a 7:15 p.m. kickoff, and then the Rams and the Bengals follow suit at 8:15 p.m.

Two games means two games to bet on with our exclusive wagering partner, FanDuel Sportsbook. Here’s a look at each game with a preview, prediction, and pick:

Odds – Eagles vs. Buccaneers

Spread: Eagles -4.5

Moneyline: Eagles -225/Buccaneers +188

Total: O/U 44.5

Storylines, Predictions, and Pick

The defending NFC champion Eagles have been the quietest 2-0 team in football. After beating the Patriots 25-20 in their season opener, they welcomed the Vikings to Lincoln Financial in Week 2 and won a tight one 34-20. Jalen Hurts has accounted for four touchdowns through two games, DeAndre Swift and Devonta Smith are running wild, and that vaunted Philly defense looks to have it’s mojo back from a season ago.

Their opponents this weekend, the Buccaneers, are also 2-0 behind the performance of quarterback Baker Mayfield. On his fourth team in three seasons, the 2018 No. 1 overall pick seems to have his footing again in Florida, and with that comes confidence – his secret weapon. Tampa’s defense, of course, has helped allowing just 17 points in each of their first two matchups.

After watching what Mayfield did in his first game with the Rams last season under the bright lights, it’s impossible to bet against him in this primetime spot. The Bucs win a tight one and get themselves to 3-0. I also like the under.

Score: Buccaneers 21 – Eagles 20

Side: Buccaneers +4.5

Total: UNDER 44.5

Odds – Rams vs. Bengals

Spread: Bengals -3

Moneyline: Bengals -154/Rams +130

Total: O/U 43.5

Storylines, Predictions, and Pick

A rematch of Super Bowl LVI, the Rams are headed to Cincinnati to take on the 0-2 Bengals, whose only concern right now is the health of their quarterback.

Joe Burrow, who’s dealing with a calf injury, seldom practiced this week but according to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini is “going through a workout this morning” and there is optimism that he’ll play on Monday night. His availability is the key to them not starting 0-3.

As for the Rams, they’re 1-1 and are riding the high of rookie phenom Puka Nacua, a fifth-round pick out of BYU who’s playing the role of Matthew Stafford’s favorite wide receiver as  Cooper Kupp recovers from a hamstring injury. Nacua has 266 yards on 26 catches through two games with LA.

I think the Rams’ luck continues with Burrow still clearly injured. Kyren Williams runs wild on the Cincy defense and The Bengals fall to 0-3 while also strongly considering putting their quarterback on the shelf to get healthy.

Score: Rams 28 – Bengals 17

Side: Rams +3

Total: OVER 43.5
