It’s week 16 in the NFL, and we’re back with another weekly column outlining three games to watch across the league this weekend.

As always, these odds, previews, and predictions are powered by our exclusive wagering partners at FanDuel Sportsbook. So head over there to make every moment more.

This time? It’s Christmas Day. Here are three games to watch:

Odds – Raiders @ Chiefs

Spread: Chiefs -10.5

Moneyline: Chiefs -560/Raiders +420

Total: O/U 40.5

Storylines, Predictions, and Pick

The virtually wide receiver-less Chiefs will play host to the always-interesting Las Vegas Raiders this weekend at Arrowhead Stadium.

Kansas City comes into this one off of a 27-17 win at New England last Sunday filled with Kadarius Toney drops and Taylor Swift f-bombs, and will look to scratch and claw for the AFC’s one-seed with three games to go in the season.

Their opponents in the Raiders, while not fighting for playoffs, continue to play spoiler ever since they fired Josh McDaniels. Antonio Pierce has this Vegas team fighting as he himself tries to build a resume and continue on as their full-time head coach in 2024.

Long story short, I like the Chiefs to win this one and the Raiders to cover.

Score: Chiefs 27 – Raiders 20

Side: Raiders +10.5

Total: OVER 40.5

Odds – Giants @ Eagles

Spread: Eagles -13.5

Moneyline: Eagles -850/Giants +590

Total: O/U 43

Storylines, Predictions, and Pick

Tommy Cutlets and the New York Giants are headed to Philly this weekend to take on their division rival Eagles.

The Eagles, after starting the season 10-1, have lost three straight and are now in danger of losing the NFC East title to the Cowboys who are tied with them at 10-4. Jalen Hurts looks like a shell of himself, their defense all of a sudden is a sieve, and Nick Sirianni is back to his weird antics with the media. Three signs of impending doom.

Still, I like them against the Giants this Monday afternoon. While what DeVito has brought them on offense is exciting, the Eagles are just playing for more right now and need a win. I like them to cover 13.5.

Score: Eagles 31 – Giants 13

Side: Eagles -13.5

Total: OVER 43

Odds – Ravens @ 49ers

Spread: 49ers -5.5

Moneyline: 49ers -250/Ravens +205

Total: O/U 47

Storylines, Predictions, and Pick

Christmas night’s matchup between the Ravens and 49ers is one of, if not the, matchup of the week.

Currently sitting as the one-seeds in their respective conferences, Baltimore and San Fran are the cream of the crop in the NFL and while I usually use this part of the column to find the flaws, it’s nearly impossible with these two teams.

That’s why I’m keeping it simple. I’m taking Baltimore with the points for a close game, and the over for some rooting fun.

Score: Ravens 31 – 49ers 30

Side: Ravens +5.5

Total: OVER 47

In a matchup between, statistically, two of the worst teams in football, the Patriots are headed to New York this weekend to take on the Giants.

As you know, you can bet the spread, money line, and total every week at FanDuel Sportsbook, but there are also plenty of exotics and props to wager on as well to try and get your money’s worth.

Here are my three favorites for this weekend’s game:

First Drive Result

Punt                                         -150

Field Goal Attempt              +450

Offensive Touchdown         +500

Any Other                              +500

The Pick: Punt (-150)

Going back to the well with this one. The Patriots, while hitting a field goal on their first drive against the Colts in Germany, have seldom scored points on their first drives of games this season.

The Giants meanwhile, while somewhat finding a rhythm last week, have yet to score points on the first drive in any of their last three games.

Both of these offenses are sub-par, to say the least, and I don’t see them getting going early (if at all) on Sunday.

Tommy DeVito Passing Yards

OVER 175.5            -114

UNDER 175.5         -114

The Pick: OVER 175.5

Giants quarterback Tommy DeVito has started just three games for the Giants this season and while it certainly took him some time to get his feet under him, he made it count last week in Washington. The undrafted rookie out of Syracuse threw for 246 yards and three touchdowns against the Commanders last Sunday, leading the Giants to a 31-19 win.

Now, in front of his hometown fans in New Jersey for the first time, I’m betting on DeVito to do it again. I love his OVER 175.5 passing yards against New England this weekend.

Demario Douglas Receiving Yards

OVER 48.5             -114

UNDER 48.5          -114

 The Pick: OVER 48.5

Speaking of impact rookies, Patriots wide receiver Demario Douglas has been the one bright spot of New England’s offense this season.

The 5-foot-8 speedster out of Liberty is the Pats’ second-leading receiver this year with 361 yards on 30 catches and has taken on a much more prominent role in the offense following the loss of Kendrick Bourne to a torn ACL.

Pop has gone over 48.5 yards in three of New England’s last four games. He does it again on Sunday, no matter who’s at quarterback.

The race to the top (of the 2024 NFL Draft) continues for the Patriots this coming Sunday as they head to The Meadowlands to take on the 3-8 New York Giants.

The game will kickoff at 1 p.m. from East Rutherford, New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium and will air on CBS. Here are the betting odds, according to our exclusive wagering partners at FanDuel Sportsbook:

Odds – Patriots vs. Giants

Spread: Patriots -3.5

Moneyline: Patriots -166/Giants +140

Total: O/U 33.5

Storylines

As mentioned above, the top storyline for the Patriots is, of course, their quarterback situation. After Bill Belichick refused to name a starter on Tuesday, saying that he’d “let us know Sunday”, Mac Jones took the podium on Wednesday and, despite not spilling who would be starting, still had plenty to say:

“Really what I’ve been focusing on is what I can control,” Jones said when asked about the competition he’s suddenly in. “I put a lot of thought into that, things I can control throughout the year, in the past, and the future. And right now it’s today, I’m really focused on having good walkthroughs, which we did, and having good practice. So that’s what I can do. Control what I can control.”

He also said that, despite not being directly involved, the Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback competition from 2018 is helping him in the situation he’s in today:

“Obviously, I was a part of a– I wasn’t really in it, but I was with Jalen and Tua and I witnessed everything. I heard every conversation. Watched everything. Watched every move between each guy. So I learned a lot about both of them and I learned a lot about myself too. Just trying to learn from their situation, and talking with Jalen and Tua, and having this friendship is always good.”

The Giants’ quarterback situation, while actually a stable one, still isn’t the best in the league by any means. For the third straight game, they’ll start undrafted rookie Tommy DeVito after starter Daniel Jones tore his ACL and backup Tyrod Taylor was placed on injured reserve with a rib cage injury.

Last week versus the Commanders, DeVito threw for 246 yards and three touchdowns while leading the Giants to a win, but he’s certainly been hot and cold over his first few NFL appearances. The Patriots should have an opportunity to rattle the former Syracuse Orange signal caller.

Predictions and Picks

At the end of the day, with the way they’re playing, it’s still hard for me to back New England in any spot. Until they prove otherwise, I have to pick agaisnt them.

In a low-scoring battle, Wink Martindale and the Giants’ front seven get after the Patriots and Co. while Saquon Barkley runs wild for Brian Daboll’s offense. New York gets thier second win in a row and New England falls to 2-9.

Score: Giants 17 – Patriots 13

Side: Giants +3.5

Total: UNDER 33.5

Following their 10-6 overseas loss to the Colts in Germany last weekend, the Patriots are on a much-needed Week 11 bye.

Players are off from Thursday to Sunday and will return to Foxborough on Monday ahead of their post-Thanksgiving game versus the New York Giants.

The betting odds are already up and despite sitting in the middle of a three-game losing streak, New England is a 5.5-point favorite for the contest. Here are the opening odds, according to FanDuel Sportsbook:

Odds – Patriots @ Giants

Spread: Patriots -5.5

Moneyline: Patriots -235/Giants +194

Total: O/U 35.5

Both the Patriots and the Giants have some quarterback questions on their hands leading into this one. New York will be starting undrafted rookie Tommy DeVito under center next Sunday as both Daniel Jones and Tyrod Taylor recover from injury. New England? They don’t even have a starter.

“We’ve got a lot of things to work on as a team and we’ll work through those,” Bill Belichick told the media this week when asked if Mac Jones is his starting quarterback. “That’s what we’re going to do this week.”

“No, we haven’t talked about that,” Jones himself said when asked if he’s the starter during his weekly WEEI appearance. “Really just, today we watched the game film and kinda talked about the plans for the bye week, so. We have practice tomorrow so. Just see how it goes there and the bye week’s a great time to work on things that you can do better so, that’s what I’m going to do.”

On Wednesday, Jones took the team’s ‘starter’ reps during the media portion of the Patriots’ practice, and The Atlhetic’s Jeff Howe reported that it continued throughout the remainder of the session. He also reported that their starter has yet to be determined.

Two of Jones’ teammates, defensive tackle Deatrich Wise and Jahlani Tavai, spoke highly of their quarterback of Tuesday.

“Personally, we’ve been going to war with Mac [Jones] so that’s the guy who I always hang my hat on,” Wise told WEEI’s Gresh and Fauria. “If Coach thinks otherwise, then that’s the guy who we’re going to rally behind.”

“He hasn’t lost any of us on the team,” Tavai told The Greg Hill Show when asked about rumors of Jones losing the locker room. “I hope he knows that all 52 other guys are ready to get after it with him.”

If New England doesn’t turn to Jones next weekend, then it would likely be backup Bailey Zappe at the helm with a puncher’s chance that either Will Grier or Malik Cunningham get the start. Either way, the suspense will continue throughout the weekend.

As always, these odds, previews, and predictions are powered by our exclusive wagering partners at FanDuel Sportsbook. So head over there to make every moment more.

Here are the games to watch:

Odds – Browns @ Ravens

Spread: Ravens -6.5

Moneyline: Ravens -200/Browns +235

Total: O/U 38.5

Storylines, Predictions, and Pick

I’ll be the first to say it: the Ravens are good.

I’m obviously kidding, as everyone is riding high on the Baltimore bandwagon as John Harbaugh’s club sits at 7-2 following four straight wins, including two in dominant fashion against the Lions (38-6) and Seahawks (37-3).

They’ll now welcome the 5-3 Browns, who’ve won three of their last four themselves, to Maryland this weekend as they get quarterback Deshaun Watson back for a second straight contest following a shoulder injury.

A division game, Sunday is the second matchup of the season between these two teams. The Ravens got the best of Cleveland (in Cleveland) 28-3 in Week 4, and I see a similar result coming on Sunday. Baltimore is rolling behind Lamar Jackson and his stable of running backs. They win and cover, with the total going over.

Score: Ravens 27 – Browns 20

Side: Ravens -6.5

Total: OVER 38.5

Odds – Texans @ Bengals

Spread: Bengals -6.5

Moneyline: Bengals -270/Texans +220

Total: O/U 47

Storylines, Predictions, and Pick

Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud not only looks like the runaway NFL Rookie of the Year, but the 2023 No. 2 overall pick might even be putting together a run at the MVP.

The former Ohio State signal-caller has been sensational so far this season, throwing 14 touchdowns to just one interception while adding a score on the ground as well. Stroud has led his team to a 4-4 record through eight games and has Houston thinking ‘playoffs’ again for the first time since the Deshaun Watson days.

Their opponents this weekend? The red-hot Cincinnati Bengals. Joe Burrow and co. have now won four in a row after their 1-3 start but still come into this one in last place in the AFC North.

The pick? Cincy keeps winning despite a valiant effort from the Texans. Bengals win, Houston covers.

Score: Bengals 28 – Texans 27

Side: Texans +6.5

Total: OVER 47

Odds – Giants @ Cowboys

Spread: Cowboys -17.5

Moneyline: Cowboys -2200/Giants +1100

Total: O/U 39.5

Storylines, Predictions, and Pick

Now on their third quarterback of the season, the struggling New York Giants are heading to Dallas this weekend for an NFC East matchup against the Cowboys.

Tommy DeVito, the undrafted rookie out of Illinois, will get the start behind center this weekend with Daniel Jones tearing his ACL this weekend and Tyrod Taylor still on IR. DeVito has come into relief twice this season notching one TD pass, one rushing touchdown, and two interceptions, but has yet to lead the Giants to a win.

Will he be able to against the 5-3 Cowboys? I doubt it. The Dallas defense continues to be lethal this season and it won’t stop against an essentially QB-less Giants team. I’m predicting a blow out at the star.

Score: Cowboys 27 – Giants 3

Side: Cowboys -17.5

Total: UNDER 39.5

Here are the games to watch:

Odds – Jets @ Giants

Spread: Jets -3

Moneyline: Jets -164/Giants +136

Total: O/U 35.5

Storylines, Predictions, and Pick

A classic battle at The Meadowlands, the Giants are set to (technically) host the Jets this weekend at MetLife Stadium.

The Jets are coming off of two straight wins and a bye week, and finally seem to have found a semblance of a groove around quarterback Zach Wilson. Now 3-3, they’ll look to get over .500 for the first time since their Week 1 win over the Bills.

Giants quarterback Daniel Jones is officially out again on Sunday so for the third week in a row, Brian Daboll’s offense will turn to Tyrod Taylor. Though the 34-year-old has been solid for New York over the last two games, he’s a backup for a reason. I like the Jets to win and cover this one with the total going under the lowest number of the weekend.

Score: Jets 17 – Giants 3

Side: Jets -3

Total: UNDER 35.5

Odds – Bengals @ 49ers

Spread: 49ers -5.5

Moneyline: 49ers -240/Bengals +198

Total: O/U 43.5

Storylines, Predictions, and Pick

The 3-3, AFC North division-dwelling Cincinnati Bengals are headed west on Sunday to take on the suddenly slumping San Francisco 49ers.

San Francisco quarterback Brock Purdy, while technically questionable for Sunday’s contest, officially cleared concussion protocol on Saturday following an attempted tush push last weekend. He’ll look to bounce his team back from the two-game losing streak they’re currently on as tackle Trent Williams and wide receiver Deebo Samuel try to get healthy.

The Bengals, coming off of a much-needed bye week that allowed quarterback Joe Burrow some rest after a preseason calf injury, feel primed to start a run here and might be catching San Fran at the right time. I like Cincy to win this one outright.

Score: Bengals 24 – 49ers 21

Side: Bengals +5.5

Total: OVER 43.5

Odds – Chiefs @ Broncos

Spread: Chiefs -7

Moneyline: Chiefs -350/Broncos +280

Total: O/U 46.5

Storylines, Predictions, and Pick

The Kansas City Chiefs are rolling. After an opening night loss to the Detroit Lions, Andy Reid’s team has won six in a row and should be able to make it seven in Denver this weekend.

Russell Wilson, now on his second coach in two seasons with the Broncos, is actually playing decent ball statistics-wise (13 TD, 4 INT) but his team sits at 2-5 coming off of a tight win against the Packers last weekend.

I don’t know why this spread is so close. Kansas City gets a massive win and Mahomes remains undefeated on the road against the AFC West.

Score: Chiefs 45 – Broncos 6

Side: Chiefs -7

Total: OVER 45.5

The NFL Playoffs are back this Saturday with two more outstanding games to watch.

The Jaguars are headed to Arrowhead to take on the one-seed Kansas City Chiefs, and the Cinderella New York Giants are headed to Philadelphia for an NFC East rivalry matchup against the conference-leading Eagles.

We’ll have you covered for the entire postseason thanks to our exclusive wagering partners at BetOnline.ag. Here are predictions and betting picks for both of Saturday’s NFL games:

Jaguars @ Chiefs – 4:30pm

Odds

Spread: Chiefs -9

Moneyline: Chiefs -500/Jaguars +395

Total: O/U 52

Preview & Pick

For about a half of football last Saturday it looked like we would have a third matchup between two AFC West rivals in the Chargers and the Chiefs – and then Trevor Lawrence showed up.

The second-year QB led the Jaguars on a 27-point comeback last weekend and has put Jacksonville in a position to play in their first AFC Championship Game since 2017. Jacksonville’s defense has been stout through their stretch run, and it’s hard to doubt head coach Doug Pederson’s postseason success after what he did in Philadelphia and what he’s now building in Duval.

As for the Chiefs, they’re looking to play in their fifth consecutive conference championship – and while their defense can often be suspect, it’s never wise to pick against Patrick Mahomes in the postseason (to win anyway). The Jaguars will make it interesting and cover the +9, but Chiefs win and advance once again.

Prediction: Chiefs 28 – Jaguars 21

Side: Jaguars +9

Total: UNDER 52

Giants @ Eagles – 8:15pm

Odds

Spread: Eagles -7.5

Moneyline: Eagles -350/Giants +280

Total: O/U 47.5

Preview & Pick

You know what they say: there’s nothing like watching Daniel Jones during a primetime Divisional Round Playoff game!

But seriously, what Jones has done with the Giants this season should not be overlooked. He had the lowest interception rate for all qualified passers and with help from Brian Daboll and Saquon Barkley – was able to lead New York to the postseason.

The buck unfortunately stops here. Now that Jalen Hurts is back in the lineup and looks to be just about healthy, this Eagles team is going to show why they went a whopping 14-3 this season and why their QB was an MVP candidate for the first 3/4 of the season. Philly wins and covers, with the total going under 47.5

Prediction: Eagles 28- Giants 17

Side: Eagles -7.5

Total: UNDER 47.5

The NFL’s third annual Super Wild Card weekend was chock full of outstanding football, with just about every game coming down to the wire (sorry Seahawks and Bucs).

We’re now onto the NFL’s Elite Eight. Here are the odds for each of the remaining teams to win the Super Bowl, per our friends at BetOnline.ag:

Odds to Win Super Bowl LVII

  1. Kansas City Chiefs             +300
  2. Buffalo Bills                         +350
  3. San Francisco 49ers           +385
  4. Philadelphia Eagles           +550
  5. Cincinnati Bengals             +750
  6. Dallas Cowboys                +1000
  7. Jacksonville Jaguars       +2800
  8. New York Giants              +2800

The rest of the field is relatively competitive. Here’s a case for each of the remaining teams and how they can raise the Lombardi on February 13th:

New York Giants (+2800)

Remember those Giants teams from the mid-2000s? They won Super Bowls in 2007 and 2010 thanks to high-quality defense units and efficient offenses that didn’t turn the football over.

That’s exactly what the 2022-2023 Giants have done so far. Daniel Jones finished the regular season with the lowest interception rate in the NFL, and continued that on with a 300+ yard, 2 TD performance against the Vikings last round. If he can continue playing quarterback the way he did on Sunday – no one should want to mess with the G-Men.

Jacksonville Jaguars (+1000)

The Jaguars are playing with house money at this point -and they feel like a team of destiny. Jacksonville was down 27-0 to the LA Chargers on Saturday evening, and felt like they were down for the count after five first-half turnovers.

Just when you thought they were done, the Jags stout defense turned in a performance for the ages in the second half allowing Justin Herbert to score just three points – and Trevor Lawrence threw four TDs to give Jacksonville their first playoff win since 2017.

Their case is that simple – you can never count this Jaguars team out. I never thought I’d say that…

Dallas Cowboys (+1000)

It’s always tough to try and count on the Cowboys heading into the postseason, but they showed out on Monday night.

Dak Prescott scored five total touchdowns in their win against the Buccaneers and showed that although he was a turnover machine in the regular season, this Dallas team has enough talent and Dak has enough poise to make a postseason run. The only drawback is the coach.

Cincinnati Bengals (+750)

The Bengals would be a top-three favorite if their offensive line was healthy – but that’s unfortunately not the case. Jonah Williams dislocated his knee on Sunday night and he and center Alex Kappa are both “week-to-week” according to Zac Taylor.

Outside of protecting Joe Burrow, this team is dominant everywhere else. Their defense has been stellar since Halloween, their receivers are elite, and they have – of course – the quarterback. If they can overcome their offensive line issues, they should have no problem making it back to the championship again.

Philadelphia Eagles (+550)

The Eagles feel like the great unknown in the 2023 playoffs. They finished the regular season with a 14-3 record and the #1 overall seed in the NFC, but have a coach and a quarterback who have yet to have postseason success.

I do, however, trust their defense. They allowed the second-fewest yards per game (301.5), led the league in sacks by 15 (70), and were seventh in point-per-game at 20.1. If Hurts can play at the MVP-level he was at prior to injuring his shoulder, he should have all the help in the world from his defense to make a Super Bowl run.

San Francisco 49ers (+385)

If there’s one thing we’ve learned from this NFL season, it’s that coaching matters – and the 49ers have the best coach remaining in the tournament in Kyle Shanahan.

The success Shanahan is able to have with just about any quarterback in his system is unmatched. Mr. Irrelevant, t Brock Purdy, is putting on a masterclass after being the ninth QB off the board in the 2022 NFL Draft. Their defense is also the best one left in the tournament led by the DPOY in Nick Bosa. San Francisco would be my favorite right now.

Buffalo Bills (+350)

The Bills have gone through more this season than just about any team has in NFL history – and they’re sneaky one of the hottest teams in football right now. Sean McDermott’s team has won 7 in a row since their overtime loss to the Vikings in November and despite playing most games close – has almost always been able to notch a check in the “W” column.

Buffalo is playing for much more than just themselves with what happened to Damar Hamlin a few weeks ago – and it’s hard to bet against that at this point. The Bills probably played their worst game of the season against Miami in the Wild Card round and still squeezed out a win. Expect much better from them this weekend.

Kansas City Chiefs (+300)

When you have the best quarterback in football, you’ll always have a chance to win the Super Bowl – and that’s exactly what the Chiefs have with Patrick Mahomes under center.

Mahomes was one vote away from being the unanimous First Team All-Pro QB this season and is well on his way to his second MVP award. He’s what keeps Kansas City running.

The Chiefs defense could be the reason they don’t win the Super Bowl – but Mahomes will be the reason they win it.
